Controversy Abounds as Bollywood’s Golden Couple Get Set to Tie the Knot

The armies of paparazzi can’t get enough of it. With hours to go before the Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor wedding ceremony, a veritable media thunderstorm has begun. After all someone has to be answer these all-important questions. Who’s not on the wedding list? What is Kareena wearing? Is Neetu Kapoor still the enemy? Will the couples’ respective exes show up or have anything to say?

According to family sources, the wedding itself will be a private affair with a small guest list of 60 in attendance at the Pataudi Palace. The select 60 are said to include only the close family and friends of the couple. Gossip has it that with all the furore over who would or would not be invited, father of the bride Randhir Kapoor was forced to apologize to those who did not make it to the exclusive list.

The situation appears to be littered with broken hearts and private feuds. Speculation is rife as to whether the Bachchans will attend. This checkered history traces back to the Abhishek Bachchan-Karisma Kapoor romance, which ended badly. As for Neetu Kapoor, Karisma and Kareena’s joint boycotting of her daughter Riddhima’s wedding could mean a no-show.

Saif’s ex-wife Amrita Singh and Kareena’s ex-boyfriend Shahid Kapoor, were rumored to be hiding it out. However, Amrita Singh surprised the media and showed up at the Sangeet ceremony on the eve of the wedding to wish the couple.

Controversy surrounds the wedding dress as well. Initial speculation had it that Bebo’s friend designer Manish Malhotra would be in charge until it was revealed that Kareena would be wearing a vintage costume first worn by Saif’s grandmother. The traditional gharara is said to have been restored by designer Ritu Kumar with some finishing touches added by Malhotra.

Just like any captivating movie script, the Saifeena story is being rolled out with a good amount of mystery and suspense holding its viewers in thrall. A few hours more and the final denouement will be revealed in all its glory.
